A great way of finding supporters and new singers for your network would be commenting on blogs of other singers. Choose the ones that seem closer to your own target audience. Comment regularly on these so that you get to know the blog author and the others who comment.

There are industry specific Social Networks that may be available for your industry or market. For example, as a Realtor also, I use Trulia, Zillow, AgentSocial, and others that are specific to the real-estate industry. This is in addition to Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
Thank you Barrett for joining the discusion! I agree with your thoughts here about "industry specific" scoial networking sites. I use DirectMatches for Business as well as the ones that you mentioned and have done quite well with them. I will also say that article writing has helped me as well.

Hope to see you here on the site some more.
Linda
Thank you Keith for joining the discussion. I have heard of Ning but have yet to take a look, hopefully I can get to that this week! I encourage everyone to write articles and get those posted as we have done very well with that.

Linda
Linda,

This very website is a ning website.

I use all the free ones that I can http://www.magicpowercoffeepro.com/4080201 is my website.
This Magic Power Coffee aphrodisiac is fairly new on the market and is an MLM based opportunity. At the moment, there is a lot of hype about it due to the fact that "sex sells!" I am very familiar with this product and opportunity offer (not a member though) simply because it still is based upon "the ones that get in first are the ones that make any real money!" But this discussion is all about "What free services do you use to promote your website?" Although I did not visit your website link above, I can GUARANTEE is is the one generated for you when YOU signed up and the idea behind it is that as many that visit it WILL sign up!

Hi Linda
Would love to share and network the sites that I have found the most useful.
Any members of the group please feel free to join me on these networks and if you have the time vote for my blog (Life in the Fast Lane) in the world medical medical blog awards (Vote Here)

I have found that a number of free services and networking groups are working well to drive traffic for me. It does take time to enter the conversation on these sites, but with a group like Viral Networkers a large number of contacts can be made very quickly and engagement is rapid.

I will share a google doc with the groups with the traffic sources I use. [Social Media Strategy Sites Open Network] I find that creating this simple list with all the sites allows me to connect with contacts across the board in a single step.
Another good way to share lots of sites is retaggr.com

Currently I find bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon, diigo, delicious, dipity are working very well and account for up to 50% of traffic.
In addition the standard facebook, linkedin, brijj, twitter links bring another 25% of visits.
I hope this helps
Mike
Great info Mike, some of these I haven't even heard of yet! Would love to learn some ore about what is working well for you - as well as the rest of the group, i'm sure. Please reply and let everyone know what you have. I will certainly take some time to go through what you have.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Linda
Thanks Linda
Regarding your question on website promotion. I use the blogs to create entries that will intersperse with social media and this results in a traffic boost
1) Blog posts submitted to stumble upon via http://su.pr and then tweeted as shortened links - account for 80% of immediate traffic surge (to blog posts in first 24 hours). This has secondary effect of 20% increase in traffic to main websites
2) The second most helpful is using strategic bookmarking of linked pages through diigo (linked to feed into delicious and Xmarks)

These are my two most useful strategies...but there are many

Mike

PS - we won the blog competition - thanks for all those who read the post and voted!
I use twitter,facebook,webs.com,linkedin,ning.
