I LOVE the last part. Too many people do not listen. They only post about themselves. I try to take 1 day a week to go through and read other peoples posts. Blogs, tweets, comments, and other ideas placed forth. Then I give imput from my perspective.
I wonder how many other people do this and understand how worth while it really is; to place forth your imput on their thoughts builds a relationship. That is what the marketplace is all about. Building relationships that create trust so meaningful exchanges can be made.
The problem I have found is that it can grow exponentially. You start talking with one person here, one there, and soon you have 100 conversations going... Ouch!
So it can be bad too since some people may feel like you're ignoring them!
We can only hope and pray that folks will understand the people they communicate with are humans and that if they feel they are being ignore that they speak up.
Yes, I can see that the feeling that being ignored is possible; we are adults and should be able to make our concerns known in a respectable mature manner. I do always try to spend a couple days a week to read other posts and when ever some one sends me a message, a post or a comment I try to respond as quickly as I can, if I am not able to answer in detail I try to let the person know with a quick blurb that I will follow up when I can with more details.
True, time is a rarity. Setting aside a specific block to do just that has helped me. Even if it is 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there. Focusing on the listening and then responding will benefit you and the folks you are socializing with.
Very concise, easy to understand information. I found it very helpful. People helping people will make the world a better place for us and our children.
Johan and Diana yes I think we all need to realize that the internet just made our personal community bigger. We are all responsible for ourselves. Interact with the people you meet in social networks as if they are your neighbors. You know the good neighbors that mow their lawn and let borrow their tools. ;-)
You are a dreamer. Maybe it will come true. I come from an area where folks shovel each others walks and check in on shut ins when it snows. So hey maybe your dreams can come true.
Just my weird sense of humor!
You must live in the Midwest. I was born in Iowa - haven't been there for awhile. A very dear friend of mine lives in Pennsylvania and at 90 she was still shoveling snow from her porch. I call her the Biconical Woman. She is amazing.
